Dr. Perfetti conducts research on the development of technologies for potential reduced exposure products, PREPs. Perfetti & Perfetti, LLC has over 30 years of experience in the development of tobacco burning cigarettes and 25 years of experience in the development of heat-not-burn PREP cigarettes.

Dr. Perfetti has several years of experience in investigating chemical fractionation techniques for the deconstruction of tobacco by-products for the selective removal of certain tobacco toxicants and for the preparation of certain tobacco-derived fine chemicals for use in the tobacco industry.

He continues to search the literature cataloguing newly identified tobacco and tobacco smoke constituents. He is always interested in investigations of the chemistry of varied tobaccos used in cigarettes, cigars, and specialty tobacco products (domestically and internationally).

Dr. Perfetti currently is working with several small Native American tobacco companies that are clients of Troutman Sanders, LLP. Perfetti & Perfetti, LLC prepares scientific opinions concerning the substantial equivalence (SE) of each company’s current (or provisional) cigarette brands and tobacco products vs. their predicate tobacco products.

In his work with flavor companies, Dr. Perfetti continues to investigate new techniques for the development of flavors for potential application in a variety of consumable products. Perfetti & Perfetti, LLC is up-to-date on the newest domestic (FDA) and international tobacco regulations. Perfetti & Perfetti, LLC is currently assisting companies with the disclosure of tobacco ingredients for FDA compliance and compliance with regulatory bodies of the European Union.
